Triumph of Bellydance in Passport - Kerameikos!!
The Greek population witnessed a great festival of oriental dances at the 2nd Spring International Bellydance Competition organized by the Oriental Expression Awards. The event, held on Sunday the 12th of March at Passport - Kerameikos, was attended by over 700 contestants, dancers, teachers and distinguished guests.
All the Participants exuded tremendous confidence and made it incredibly difficult for the distinguished Judges. The International panel of Judges was presided by Anna Dimitratou (Athens), and International Belly Dance sensation Julia Farid from Ukraine along with Dana Vahida (Ukraine) Sara Toscano (Portugal), Nikos Malek, Chronis Taxidis, Jasmine Kalathaki, Erifili Nikolakopoulou and Yara Dagher.
The judges along with the audience encountered a fierce competition with unique solo and group choreographies in six categories showcasing young talents and professionals, on an international multicultural competition stage. The competition was immediately followed by a spectacular Oriental Fashion Parade showcasing beautiful costumes and accessories from Yara Dagher.
The magical evening was concluded with an extravagant show with the renowned Artists who enthralled everyone with their performance. The show also included the famous percussion group Tabbal led by Chronis Taxidis and an excellent live improvisation by Dana Vahida with the musicians. The showstopper, however, was Julia Farid, who made the Athenian audience delirious with her incredible perfection and concluded this incredible event.
The organization wishes to thank the renowned jury, supporters and sponsors of the event, as well as dozens of sites that promoted the big event, but above all, thanks to the Audience, the participants - dancers and competitors - and the tireless partners.
Special thanks to Antenna channel and journalist Mr. Nikolas Vafiadis who covered the event, as also the online broadcast 7 days in Athens and journalist Mrs. Stella Papadopoulou.
The Oriental Expression Awards was born from a compelling desire to elevate Oriental Dance in Greece to the next level and to generate public awareness about this beautiful and ancient dance style, and keeping this in sight, the team is looking forward to the 3rd spring International Bellydance competition in 2018.
