ORIENTAL EXPRESSION AWARDS

(Spring International Bellydance Competition)

Artistic Studio Oriental Expression introduces a new institution, “Oriental Expression Awards” a Spring International Bellydance Competition.

This competition is open for all levels (Beginners, Advanced and Professional) and it will be an All styles competition including Tribal Fusion, Folklore and Modern Styles.

The competition will be held for the 1st time on 23rd April 2016 (Saturday) at 6pm, at PassPort – Kerameikos.

Participants that are interested must enroll until 10th of April, 2016. Early bird Discount available until the end of March.

  1. ORIENTAL (FOLKLORE AND MODERN STYLE)

  • SOLO CATEGORY

  • Bellydance Teen Star of the Year 2016
    Junior Beginners level
    Junior Advanced level
    Age limit: 12 to 15 years old

  • Bellydance Rising Star of the Year 2016
    Adult Beginner
    Adult Advanced
    Age limit : Above 16 years old

  • Bellydance Star of the 2016
    Professional level
    Age limit: 18 years old and above

  • GROUP CATEGORY

  • Bellydance Group of the Year 2016

Juniors, Age limit: 12 to 15 years old

Adults, Age Limit: 16 years old and above

  1. TRIBAL FUSION BELLYDANCE

  • SOLO CATEGORY

  • Tribal Teen Star of the Year 2016
    Junior Beginners level
    Junior Advanced level
    Age limit: 12 to 15 years old

  • Tribal Rising Star of the Year 2016
    Adult Beginner
    Adult Advanced
    Age limit : Above 16 years old

  • Tribal Star of the 2016
    Professional level
    Age limit: 18 years old and above

  • GROUP CATEGORY

  • Tribal Group of the Year 2016
    Juniors, Age limit: 12 to 15 years old
    Adults, Age Limit: 16 years old and above

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATING:

  • Time limit: 2 minutes (Beginners and Advanced) and
    3 minutes (Professional level and Group category).

  • Contestants dance separately with their own music that has to be chosen by the participants except the Beginner level. Beginner level participants will dance together with music decided by the organizers

  • Junior levels have to wear leggings, bustier and Bellydance / tribal waist scarf

  • Props are allowed only In Advance and Professional Categories and not Beginners level

  • Groups must be 3 dancers and above

  • The categories will be determined based on participants

  • Contestants must arrive at PassPort – Kerameikos (58 Kerameikos str. and Marathonos) from 17.00 till 17.30 and deliver in a flash – drive (USB) or in a cd their track in good condition and should also carry an extra CD or USB for Back-up.

  • Tracks found more than time limit shall not be accepted

  • Participants are responsible for their personal properties

THE JUDGES PANEL

The Committee consists of the well-known teachers, choreographers and dance experts.

  • SONIA OCHOA (President of the panel): Bellydance Super Star, world renowned performer, teacher and choreographer of Belly dance.

  • ANNA DIMITRATOU: Creative Director of Artistic Studio Oriental Expression, Bellydance performer, teacher and choreographer

  • SORAYA SHOEIB: Bellydance performer and teacher, World 2nd best Bellydancer for the year 2015

  • MALEK NIKOS: Bellydance performer and teacher, instructor of “Malek Group” located on Crete - Greece

  • JASMIN KALATHAKI: Tribal Fusion and Bellydance performer and teacher, instructor of Merkabah Troupe

  • ERIFILI NIKOLAKOPOULOU: Tribal Bellydance performer and teacher, Yoga instructor

  • VALENTINI MOSCHOU: Bellydance performer and teacher

  • AMIRA BALKIS: Bellydance performer, choreographer, instructor of “Loulouda” Group

The participants will be judged on the basis of their Technique, Choreography, Synchronization (for Groups), Costume and Stage Presence.

PRIZES

  • Every participant shall receive a participation certificate.

The 1st prize winner of each category shall receive

  • Certificate signed by all the judges.

  • Special Presents from our Sponsors (Will be announced soon).

  • Free participation in next year’s Awards Competition.

  • Free Seminars and show passes at the 4th Bollywood and Multicultural Dance Festival (1-3 July, 2016), Athens.

Winners of the Professional categories and Group category shall have the opportunity to perform in Sonia Ochoa show immediately after the competition.

ENTRY FEES

The fee for each participant is 25 euro (Early bird 20 euro) and includes:

  • Contestant’s performance

  • Professional Video of their performance.

  • Free entrance in the following show, where SONIA OCHOA and exquisite guest artists and dancers will perform

  • Viewers’ entrance: 10 euro

  • For everyone that wants to watch not only the Competition but also the following Show, the entrance will be 15 euro.
